In the Beginning

• 4,033-ha. “Hacienda de Mandaloyong”, part of the estate holdings of the Augustinian Order
• On 10 July 1931, the Ortigas, Madrigal y Compania was established with founders Francisco Ortigas, Vicente Madrigal, BCM Johnston, Fulgencio Borromeo, Clyde A. Dewitt and Manuel L. Quezon. The limited partnership was organized to buy Hacienda de Mandaloyong

In 1956 Vicente Madrigal withdrew from the partnership and the name changed to Ortigas & Company, Limited Partnership

Later…

• This left the HSBC, the Rafael Ortigas, Sr. Group (ROG), the Francisco Ortigas, Jr. Group (FOG) and the Archdiocese of Manila as the remaining major shareholders
• In the late 1990’s, OCLP leadership transitioned from President Francisco Ortigas, Jr. to President Rafael Ortigas, Jr.
• In 2001, the OCLP Board decided to hire non-family professional managers to assist in the  reorganization and revitalization of the company.
